Job Title: Sr. Specialist Electrical Engineer Power Supply

Schedule: 9/80 Job Description:L3Harris is currently seeking a
Specialist power supply design engineer who will join the design
team to contribute to the growing power conversion circuit card
design needs. The designer will apply their knowledge designing low
and high voltage, high frequency switch mode power supplies under
the supervision of a senior power supply engineer. The individual
must work with other engineering disciplines to assure power supply
designs meet the power, thermal, emissions and safety requirements
of the system requirements. Essential Functions:Design AC/DC power
converters Design DC/DC power convertersDesign power distribution
architecturesDesign and analyze EMI filtersAnalyze analog/power
circuits for stability, efficiency, power draw, in-rush, etc.Write
specifications and test approaches for power supply circuit
designsSelect components for discrete power converter designs, or
modules for systemsCreate schematics for analog/power circuits,
support printed circuit card designConduct and participate in
internal peer design reviews, design verification testing of
engineering units and oversight of design into productionPerform
analog and power testing in a laboratory setting for development
components and circuit cardsWork in conjunction with
multi-disciplinary engineering teams for digital, RF, mechanical
and systems engineers on the overall program/project performance
Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior
relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of
prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years
of prior related experience Preferred Additional Skills:Experience
with power conversion design, power analysis, analog circuit
simulation, control loops and stabilization. Knowledge of high
frequency magnetics design, development, and
manufacturing.Demonstrated knowledge of AC/DC & DC/DC power
converter design, build and test.Understanding of power analysis
with MathCad, Excel or similar tools.Experience with electrical
simulations using SIMPLIS and SPICE modeling tools.Experience with
CAD tools (preferably Mentor Graphics) for schematic entry and
layout. The individual must be able to work from oral and written
instructions, be dependable, positive, assertive, a team player and
have a strong desire to succeed.Great communications skills to
expeditiously coordinate efforts through all phases of the
engineering and manufacturing process while contributing to a
high-performance team environment to meet customer needs.Willing to
work overtime and weekends when required. Experience with common
lab equipmentPreferably able to obtain a US DoD security
clearanceFamiliarity with MIL-STD-704, and MIL-STD-461 is a
plus.Must be proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Project
software.Design experience in military or other ruggedized
industries.
